Rose
Murray Brown is one of only 261 Masters of Wine worldwide.
She is the only female Master of Wine working in Scotland.
She passed this rigorous practical and theoretical examination,
the highest qualification achievable in the drinks trade,
in 1998.
Rose graduated from St Andrews University in 1983, after
which she worked in Italy. She then trained for ten years
with Sotheby's International auctioneers as a wine and
spirit specialist based in London and France.
Rose is now Scotland's leading drinks journalist. She
has written a regular column in The Scotsman for the last 19 years. She also contributes
food and drink reviews to specialist trade and consumer
international magazines, as well as radio and TV. She
presented a 13 part series on food and drink for Yorkshire/Tyne
Tees TV. She travels abroad regularly visiting vineyards and judging at international wine competitions.
