MARGARET RIVER & GREAT SOUTHERN
WINE MASTERCLASS
Thursday 8 September 2022
7.30pm - 9.30pm
The Royal Scots Club, Abercromby Place, Edinburgh
Join this fun tasting highlighting the two main wine growing areas of Western Australia: Margaret River and Great Southern.
The terroir and wine culture is so unique in this beautiful remote corner of Australia.
Margaret River is perhaps the best known - with its mediterranean climate, strong maritime influence & gravelly soils it has become Australia's heartland for Bordeaux varietals. Iconic reds made from Cabernet Sauvigon & Merlot and thrilling refreshing dry whites from Sauvignon Blanc & Semillon have become the signature of Margaret River - but they also make superb Chardonnay and Shiraz.
Great Southern is a large cool region in the deep south west of Australia with a vast remote landscape. At this tasting we will discover its five subregions (including Frankland and Mount Barker) - and taste a diverse range of wines from fine cool climate dry Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz.
The tasting of 13 wines will be hosted by Rose Murray Brown MW.
No prior knowledge required - just a love of Australia wine.
Gift vouchers available on request - this would make a great gift for a New World wine lover.
